What's the youngest age you should be to become a rock star?

Like, approximately how old do you think someone should be before trying to become a star. Like preforming on stage and people actually coming and liking it and stuff. It's unlikely anyone wants to see a 13 year old, but it's equally unlikely anyone that is 13 is talented enough to be on stage. there is more to being a musician than technical skill - musicianship, composition, stage presence and articulating something meaningful through the music are skills that take time to refine. There is no age limit, but it's a matter of having these foundations in place first. There are few examples of people developing these skills, forming a band, working out the show, recording and building a team supporting the band - regardless of age. I'd say just to get all of this done you are looking at late teens.



Approaching your question another way one idea is that you should finish high school. I think there is value to that, but that it can be done concurrently with the ground work needed for success anyways, as discussed above.

Performing on stage and becoming a 'rock star' are completely different things. I've played in a number of bands at various gigs and such and I'm only 18.
