In 2006 we replaced our furnace and air conditioner with an energy star rated system as well as our windows. I heard there is up to $500 in tax credits for energy saving measures in Wisconsin. Is this true? How do I get this info? I have the proof of purchases, but what else might I need?Does anyone know if you can get a kick-back on taxes for energy star purchases?Yes. I happen to have this handy because I am getting quotes on H/AC at the moment and one of the salesmen mentioned the TAX break. Only available years 2006 and 2007 only.
See government link below:Does anyone know if you can get a kick-back on taxes for energy star purchases? It is a new credit.
There is a separate form for it (though I can't remember the number).
Most preparers and the software programs should ask about it.Does anyone know if you can get a kick-back on taxes for energy star purchases?Tax breaks yes, "kick backs" no. Check with the IRS to be sure what the requirements are.Does anyone know if you can get a kick-back on taxes for energy star purchases?
Yes. And it's a tax credit (not deduction) of 10% of the cost.
I'm not sure if that would cover installation costs though (I'm thinking about getting some new windows, I'll find out then).
