What are some good character names for the crew of a star ship in the year 2314?

I need some names for the crew of the U.S.S. Vagabond (an exploration star ship) for my book which will either be titled Raevyn and the Vagabond or Star-crossed (I haven't decided yet). Be as creative as possible. If you have a specific job in mind for the character I would love to hear your opinion. I already have the names of my two main characters. What is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?

Saturn is to the left and slightly above a brighter star ( Venus?) looking east just before sunrise in the fall. Is this the same bright star seen in a somewhat southern veiw late at night in the fall? What is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?Bright Jupiter dominates the July sky for the first half of the night. Jupiter appears as a very bright, almost brilliant white star-like object, high above the southern horizon in the early July evening twilight. By late July Jupiter is high above the south-southwestern horizon in evening twilight. The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is the brightest star-like object most often seen in the night sky,What is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?
yaaaaaaaaWhat is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?My spy satellite. I see you. ;-)What is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?
I believe it is Venus that is seen low on the western horizon around sunset in summer months Dec/Feb.What is the bright star (planet) often veiwed in the southern sky?If you'd given a date, you would get a more positive answer. As it is today, 29 July, in the evening, that is Jupiter below and to the East of the Star Arcturus. In early Aug. Venus will be rising in the East just before dawn, and if you can get a good position fix on it, you can see it all day with the naked eye. Saturn and Mercury will also be in the picture , and you can identify them by their magnitudes from brightest to dimmest... Venus, Mercury, and Saturn.

What happens when the gravity of a massive star is able to overcome neutron degeneracy pressure?

a. The core contracts and becomes a white dwarf.

b. The core contracts and becomes a ball of neutrons.

c. The core contracts and becomes a black hole.

d. The star explodes violently, leaving nothing behind.

e. Gravity is not able to overcome neutron degeneracy pressure. What happens when the gravity of a massive star is able to overcome neutron degeneracy pressure? The maximum mass of a neutron star is given by: -

........................ 鲁/鈧?br>
M(max) = |8蟺f(n)| . 1.85.M(sun)

.............. |_____|

.............. | .. 9 . |

Where f(n) is a dimensionless length parameter (for ordinary nuclear matter f(n) 鈮?0.9).

Thus, in neutron stars of 3.0.M(sun) - 5.0.M(sun) the gravity of the massive star is able to overcome neutron degeneracy pressure at the core. The star collapses and gravity strengthens and the star enters a region of space-time called a black hole.

Thus, the answer to your question is ---- c.What happens when the gravity of a massive star is able to overcome neutron degeneracy pressure?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

  • What do you call a white main sequence star of spectral class A to F?

You can't call them white dwarves because that's something else completely. So what would you call a white star that's slightly more massive and more luminous than a yellow dwarf? What do you call a white main sequence star of spectral class A to F?A white main sequence star.

Spectral type A stars are probably brighter than spectral type F stars, because A is an excellent grade to get, while F is pretty bad.

Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?

In all of the other star trek TV shows, the romulans look mostly the same- but Nero looks way different. Why is this? The only thing I noticed that look the same are the romulans in Star Trek Insurrection- Is he like them? Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans? From Memory Alpha: "Due to their shared ancestry, Vulcans and Romulans possessed very similar physiology. (...) Most Romulans had two brow ridges above the bridge of their nose, forming a V-shape on the forehead. However, a minority of Romulans lack these ridges, making them outwardly indistinguishable from Vulcans."

In the prequel comic Star Trek: Countdown, an explanation is given for the tattoos on Nero and his crew: "There was a tradition on Romulus that when a loved one died you would paint your grief upon your skin. Ancient symbols of love and loss. In time the paint would fade, and with it the period of mourning. Life would go on. We paint these symbols on our skin now. But we burn them deep. So that they will never fade. Because life does not go on. We died with our friends. We died with our families. We died with Romulus. And all that is left is revenge."

Hope that answers your question :)Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?

Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?because the actor that plays Nero is Australian not British or Canadian. Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?
I suppose they wanted Nero to look different and to not just blend in because he's the bad guy and everybody has to know who the bad guy of the movie is... as time went on and the effects got better the aliens all started looking different (check out the Original Series' Klingons and compare them to how they look on all the other series) I guess since Insurrection came right before the new movie and is therefore it's closest living relative they're going to look more alike than Romulans from any other show/movie because there's not a huge make-up/effects gap between them. Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans? Were there any Romulans in the ST Insurrection movie? I remember the Romulans from The Original Star Trek series, and from Star Trek the Next Generation series. And the Romulans were much fiercer looking in TNG. They had more grooves in their faces and protruding foreheads, and a more deadly threatening demeanour, and quite frankly were more interesting and well developed within the plot than the original Star Trek Romulans. Especially the Tasha story for instance.

Nero looked like a guy with Tattoos, really peeved off mind you, but not the Romulans from any of the series, so you're right on in your observation in my opinion. Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?
The universe has been reimagined, some stuff will be different,

Also most of the Romulans we have seen before have been Military, and Nero and his ships crew were just civilian miners as he said out making an honest living. I would guess that before Spock messed up Romulus and Remus Nero and his guys may have been pretty normal and decent folk.

  • What is the largest possible mass for a star?

I mean an active, light-emitting star, not a degenerate object like the supermassive black holes at the centers of many galaxies. What is the largest possible mass for a star?I'm not sure that we know what the largest possible mass for a star is. Since astronomers are puzzling over how a star as massive as the Pistol Star (100 solar masses) could have formed, it sounds like they don't believe that a larger star could exist.

The largest known star (in terms of mass and brightness) is called the Pistol Star. It is believed to be 100 times as massive as our Sun, and 10,000,000 times as bright! In 1990, a star named the Pistol Star was known to lie at the center of the Pistol Nebula in the Milky Way Galaxy. In 1995, it was suggested that the Pistol Star was so massive it was throwing off the mass that actually created the Pistol Nebula. Observations from the Hubble Space Telescope in 1997 confirmed the relationship between the star and the nebula. Astronomers are currently unsure how a star this massive could have formed or how it will act in the future.

UPDATE! As of January 2009, we now know about some other really big stars. One is called Eta Carinae. It has a size about 800 times that of our Sun, a mass about 100 times that of our Sun, and is about 4,000,000 times brighter than our Sun. And, yet, we do not think it is the biggest! Recent observations of a star called VY Canus Majoris show that it has a size between 600 and 2100 tims the size of our Sun! However, this star is only about 500,000 times brighter than our Sun and 30 or so times more massive than our Sun. So how can it be so big? It is in a stage of its lifecycle called a red hypergiant, and while it is very big, it is rather cool in temperature compared to our Sun. VY Canis Majoris is located about 5000 light-years away from Earth. What is the largest possible mass for a star? There is hardly no possible limit. The star just becomes more and more unstable. If a star formed with a certain dozens of times the mass of the Sun, the energy would blow away any gases still orbiting it. But if 2 stars 50 times the mass of the Sun each collide, it will form a star and the star will not be so stable. It will 'spew' gas into space forming a nebula, like the Postol Star has. If 2 stars 80 times the Sun's mass each collide, it will form a single star, even less stable. So if an extremely massive star formed by other supermassive stars colliding together and it does happen, it will still form a star, but 'spew' gas faster depending on it's mass and it will lose mass. So it will have time to evolve with over 100 times the mass of the Sun, but all of them lose a large fraction of their mass by the time they come to an end. What is the largest possible mass for a star? The limit is 2.5 times our own sun. If a star goes over this limit scientist say that it will become two. this also is known as the binary-system of stars. scientist also have not found a star to be more than 2.5 times bigger than ours(our star has around 4.3 spetillion tons of mass)What is the largest possible mass for a star?
    ~150 solar masses

Is it possible to build a star destroyer?

I love Star Wars and i would really like to know if it would be possible to build a star destroyer or one of the other star ships. Is it possible to build a star destroyer?Hi. Just some plywood, paint, and LEDs would work. You do intend to stay on the planet, don't you.?Is it possible to build a star destroyer?
It is possible to build a real life starshp or destroyer but it will be so heavy that getting it to lift off vertically would be impossible, for something to lift or vertically it needs to be light (like fighter jets) it would be possible for horizontal lift off just like airplanes but the power needed.....we don't have it

So basically we could build a stardestroyer with all the lights etc etc..but it won't be ble to flyIs it possible to build a star destroyer?Sure, most ships in the movies had been "small" scale models (about 4m long in some cases).

A real one is a bit tough: It would be physically possible to build a spacecraft which looks like one and has the same size. but it would have absolutely no military value, stuff like shields would not work and the turbolasers would be firing invisible beams.

The term "star wars physics" is coined by the fact, that the physics in movies like star wars have absolutely nothing in common with the real world. Is it possible to build a star destroyer?
LOL. Unobtainium? OK...at any rate, we do not have the technology available to construct such a vessel. I'm sure you can get the specs from somewhere or work from photographs to build an non-working scaled model. Is it possible to build a star destroyer?A good imagination and the ability to mimic nature with controlled technology. In nature stars have been observed to go NOVA learn how to create such conditions then you can realize your dream. Is it possible to build a star destroyer?
The best material for such weapons is called 'unobtainium'.

    Good luck.

DougIs it possible to build a star destroyer?
Real one? No, we are a long way off from having such technology.

A thousand or ten thousand years from now? Maybe.

You can claim ownership of the sun by erecting a giant photoelectric panel (at least 12,000 km across) at the L1 point between Earth and the sun. Then you can beam the power down to Earth and charge a ridiculously high price for it. You can also charge countries for letting a sunbeam thru the panel at specified times and locations. Mr. Burns, Homer Simpson's boss, has already done a pilot project, so pay him for some advice.

How do you find out how fast a star is moving away from us?

From earth, how can you find out the speed a star is moving away from us?How do you find out how fast a star is moving away from us?Motion toward us or away from us can be determined using the doppler shift.

If the star is moving away, the spectral lines are redshifted. The amount of the shift is proportional to how fast the star is moving away.

The star emits light at a constant wavelength and we receive the light here on Earth at the same constant wavelength.

In the case of light, this means that a star moving toward us will have its spectrum shifted toward the blue end of the spectrum (blue-shifted) and stars moving away from us will have their spectrum red-shifted.How do you find out how fast a star is moving away from us?The doppler shift in the light from the star is obtained using specialized equipment. It probably was a meteor, which probably would burn up before it reached the earth's biosphere. What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?It could be a low orbit satellite, which moves faster than most. Or, it could also be a meteor. Meteors are actually quite common, so what you saw could be what people call a 'falling star'What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?
Satellites can be appear to go pretty fast... or pretty slow... depending on their orbit, and it's orientation relative to you and your location.

It was a plane or a meteorite.

What is the criterion that signifies when a star鈥檚 main sequence life has ended?

What is the criterion that signifies when a star鈥檚 main sequence life has ended? What is the criterion that signifies when a star鈥檚 main sequence life has ended?A star moves off the main sequence when it has exhausted its supply of hydrogen and begins the nucleosynthesis of heavier elements. What is the criterion that signifies when a star鈥檚 main sequence life has ended?"The continuous fusion of hydrogen into helium will cause a build-up of helium in the core. The rate at which this process occurs depends on the initial mass of the star and ranges from millions to billions of years. Larger, hotter stars produce helium more rapidly than smaller, cooler ones.

The accumulation of helium in the core causes a gradual increase in the rate of fusion and gravitational self-compression, as helium is denser than hydrogen. Higher temperatures must be attained to resist this increase in gravitational compression and to maintain a steady state.

Eventually, the core exhausts its supply of hydrogen, and without the outward pressure generated by the fusion of hydrogen to counteract the force of gravity, it contracts until either electron degeneracy becomes sufficient to oppose gravity, or the core becomes hot enough (around 100 megakelvins) for helium fusion to begin. Which of these happens first depends upon the star's mass."

What speed film do you used to capture star trails?

I've taken pictures of "star trails" before but I can't remember the speed of the film that I used, just that I used a 28mm lens and f/2.8 for about 2 hours. Also if anyone can suggest alternate settings and the film speed to be used with it I'd appreciate it.What speed film do you used to capture star trails? With film speeds you have to remember that there is a trade off in getting a faster film. With the faster films you will be able to notice more grain in your photographs. So it all boils down to what you plan on doing with your star trail photograph. If you just want something to show star trails for say homework, then I would suggest Kodak's 800 ASA max film. If on the other hand you want something to use for a project AND hang on the wall, I would suggest Kodachrome slide film, either the 64 ASA or the 200 ASA. Part of the Art of learning photography is the experimentation. I really recommend that you get a few different speeds of film and experiment with the settings, taking notes as you go. In normal photography, you are capturing a moment in time with the available light in doing so. With star trails, you are just capturing the light and it's movement. Vivid colours are not a necessity here. Look at Black and White films. The idea here is to minimize the grain, so, the lower the ASA the finer the grain and larger enlargements possible. Play with your settings, try a larger lens, actually I do not do astro photography with anything smaller than a 300mm super fast lens, but that depends on what you are shooting. Kodachrome has a nice spectral response in the 400 nm to 700 nm range, that is why I recommend it. But like I said, the Art of learning photography is the experimentation. So get your variety of films, your camera, tripod and cable release and go experiment. Take notes, compare, learn. Don't forget the ability to push your films and don't forget about film fogging due to ambient light pollution during extended exposures. F/2.8 is a good start, just remember that if you increase your f/stop by twice you increase your exposure time by twice, remember the faster the lens the better you are. If this is something that you might enjoy doing full time then you can learn about hyperizing your filmWhat speed film do you used to capture star trails?
I use the bulb setting on my canon and let it sit for about two hours as well. What speed film do you used to capture star trails?it will take at a lot longer than that. Some cams have a bulb mode, which will hold the shutter open as long as you hold the button down. you're going to have to play with it more and find what you like bestWhat speed film do you used to capture star trails?
    35mm

脝What speed film do you used to capture star trails?I use either 50 or 100 ISO speed film; you don't really need fast film for these shots. Set the aperture on your lens as far open as possible (f2.8, f3.5). Open the shutter on the bulb setting of your camera with a locking cable release with either a mechanical or electronic release. For the exposure time, the longer the better! The longer you leave the shutter open, the longer the star trails will be. I've found that somewhere between 4 to 6 hours is optimum.

How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?

The Star Trek movies take place a couple hundred centuries in the future, the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th centuries. There seems to be some kind of utopia in this future, but there is no religion at all it seems like. Why is that? How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies? There was one TV episode of the original Star Trek that mentioned the Christmas story. I think Star Trek tries to portray this kind of Utopian world created by technology and science. It is kind of a socialist society where people agree to work for the good of the whole. Not my idea of utopia but maybe someone else's. Of course this fable has inspired many 'trekkies' who long for this kind of technological Utopia. However, wisdom tells us that a perfect utopian can never exist if man is the only source to get us there, since man himself is flawed. How could something so flawed create perfection? I think perfection could only be achieved through the one who is perfect, namely Jesus Christ. How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?
Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek universe, was an atheist. He believed that by the time humans progress societally and technologically to the point we see in Star Trek, they will have "grown beyond" the need for religion. Personally, I think he underestimated the strength of the religion meme. How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?there's a LOT of religion in Star Trek... especially among the Klingons and the Vulcans. The original creator wanted it toned WAY down because there's no "small" or "easy" way to deal with religion, it tends to BECOME the story.

Look at Star Wars.... do you really believe that in the first three original movies, the Force was intended to be the result of microbes living in the bloodstream? Lucas had to drastically and dramatically change a fundamental aspect of the story to avoid controversy with the wing-nutz of the world. The very idea of microscopic life being responsible for the Force described in the original trilogy is ludicrous, but it got the religious nuts off his back.

L Ron Hubbard had to develop a who new religion and found a church so he wouldn't have to go back and edit all his stories and books. How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?
Because the creator was a an atheist and a humanist. But to be far, actually there are religions in the original movies/series, but it is atheistic [case in point, the Vulcans].

In the later series, such as DS9, you do have the Bajorins who worship the aliens in the wormhole as Prophets. How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies? The assumption is that society has evolved past the need for religion by then. Even now, god is mostly confined to the gaps. But if you had aliens with butt shaped throbbing heads, the ability to go across the galaxy and meet the "seeders" of evolution, discovered a humanoid alien descendant from a terran dinosaur...the need for god disappears.
I think Gene Roddenberry was an atheist. In my opinion, a very spiritual and religious man who did not believe in a personal God. But the first Star Trek movie (not the TV pilot) does address some God questions. So does the Star Trek movie "The Final Frontier," if I am not mistaken about the name. Even in the original TV series there was one episode which involved a modern Roman-like world with a "Son," representing their own version of Jesus in the background plot. In another early show a god-child-like being gets to have a planet for a toy and humans as pets. In one Star Trek: The Next Generation show Data asks Captain Picard about life after death. Captain Picard speaks about the possibility as likely in his opinion. In another episode a deity is in orbit around a planet with its "children" below, humanoids much like humans. There are other examples. The infamous "Q" being for instance is a godlike being and the top "Q" is all-seeing and all-knowing.How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?
DS 9 was full of it

Deep Space 9, where they had :

    Prophets,

    Celestial temple (Bajorian wormhole),

    Messiah (Sisko)

    Pope and priests (Kai)

    Anti-Christ (Gul Dukat).

    .
Because the plot lines of their movies aren't really suited to religion, more to special effects. They did have that one weird movie where they went to some weird planet and there was a "god" there or something. One of the worst in my opinion. How come there is no religion in the Star Trek movies?
We get past the superstition of religion, which happened as society became more educated as a whole, which lead to less fighting, more peace and a utopia.
Why does the movie "Enemy at the Gates" exhibit no religion?

That must be because war is not hell, but paradise.
Because it's a movie/show and practicing religion isn't exactly action material.
One of my favorite NG stories involved an early Vulcan world and what happened when they tried to put a god in the gap thinking Picard was their god...
The Federation is an evolved civilization. The Enterprise crew do encounter once in a while primitive religious societies.
Because religion no longer makes any sense in the 21st century, much less later ones.
The more knowledgeable people are, the less they believe in religion. People in the future will be smarter.
Too many scantily clothed women and dudes were far, far away from home. Why should it be any different than what happens on a movie set offshore?
Roddenberry was an atheist. He extrapolated and figured that was what would happen.
    The creator was an atheist.

"Religions vary in their degree of idiocy, but I reject them all."

    ~Gene Roddenberry
But there was. The force that was driving the crew aboard the Enterprise was coming from the God Yahweh and His Son Jesus Christ.
    What H.C. said.
they have evolved past the need for it if you look at it that way. otherwise the reason is the creator was an atheist.

It includes all numbered figures plus variants (like both versions of Annakin Skywalker, Honor Guard, etc). Also includes some promo figures like Target exclusive Lava Anakin, Lava Obi Wan and the Black Stormtrooper. Also have most of the Special Sets (like Vader on the operating table, Clone Troopers Pack -and its variants). Also have the Evolutions Pack (limited edition with serial numbers). All figures are mint, never openned in their original boxes.

Seriously though, this is incredibly subjective based on where you live and how available the figures may still be, if not in regular store then in specialty ones. No one is going to want to pay you top dollar for them because they will want to make sure they can get their money back plus a profit.

What is your favorite star wars character?
Until episode three, I would have said that Padme Amidala is my favorite character. She showed great strength and courage and wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty to do what needed done. She was intelligent and well spoken and thoughtful. But in Episode III, she turned into a more shallow, undeveloped character. I know the focus was less on the relationship between Padme and Anakin than on Anakin's defect to the Sith, but I was still disappointed in the weak character written for Episode III in contrast to the first two.

  • What force brings the gas in a nebula together to form a main sequence star?

    also i have another question...

Which part of the EM spectrum do stars emit?

    and...

List four elements present in stars and when they occur in a star's life cycleWhat force brings the gas in a nebula together to form a main sequence star?Gravity: stars form inside dense concentrations of interstellar gas and dust known as molecular clouds. These regions are extremely cold, just above absolute zero. The deep cold also causes the gas to clump. Star formation is often triggered by an external shock wave, for instance an exploding supernova. When the density reaches a certain point, the cloud collapses under their own weight.

Stars like the Sun and bigger emit mainly in visible light. For the Sun it's about 50% visible light, 45% infra red and 5% UV.

Red dwarfs emit relatively more infra red, and large stars more UV.

*All* elements are present in stars like the Sun. However for the Sun it's about 3/4 hydrogen, 1/4 helium and 2% other stuff. Over time more helium is produced and at the end of its life the Sun will even start to fusion Helium into Carbon and Oxygen.

What diamond engagement ring resembles the Whitehall White Star ring?

My girlfriend loved the Whitehall White star ring but now that store has goen bankrupt and they are no longer available. Are there any other rings that resemble that one? It had a small diamond mounted in the band under the solitaire so when you look at the side you can see it. Thanks for all the help. What diamond engagement ring resembles the Whitehall White Star ring?Do you have a picture or link?

My understanding is that a Whitehall white star diamond is simply a branded diamond with more facets than the typical Princess or Round Brilliant cut. Kay and Jared Jewelers sells their "Leo" diamond (with more facets) which is probably similar. Personally, I would never buy a diamond from Kay, Jared, or any other mall store. You probably dodged a bullet with Whitehall going out of business - you likely would have gotten ripped off with a low-clarity fad diamond with an EGL certification.

When you do buy, make sure your diamond has a AGS or GIA certification - these certification labs have the best reputation. Look for "ideal" or "excellent" cut! You can add 100 extra facets to a diamond, but it won't sparkle in all light environments unless the actual proportions are perfect - that's why you want AGS Ideal or GIA Excellent cut grades.

Are you looking for a Round or Princess cut? And basically, you're looking for a setting with a surprise stone, right? A setting with a surprise diamond can be found almost anywhere.

Here's an incredibly overpriced, low quality ring from Jared with a surprise diamond on the side (see images): http://www.jared.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s鈥?/a>

Here's a reasonably priced setting from Whiteflash with a surprise stone (see enlarged image): http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rin鈥?/a>

As for diamonds, these are lovely - ideal proportions, AGS/GIA certified, and reasonably priced (sorry, I'm not sure what size diamond you're looking for). All of these have pictures and analysis of each actual diamond:

You could also check BlueNile for pricing, however BlueNile doesn't have any actual diamond images, so you'd have to purchase and have the diamond delivered before you actually get to see the diamond. That's a deal breaker for me.

What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?

I know it is very implausible even though scientist have said that jupiter very well could have turned into a star during its formation. What do you think would happen if Jupiter were to ignite? What would the effects be on earth? What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?Jupiter qualifies as an "almost star" the same way that your back yard qualifies as an "almost continent."

Jupiter is about 1/12 to 1/13 the mass required to fuse deuterium... the lowest mass brown dwarfs, which are subject for debate as to whether they are stars or not, considering they cannot even maintain that form of fusion for any dependable length of time. So how massive would Jupiter need to be, to sustain hydrogen as a Red Dwarf, and give our solar system a second star?

About 70-80 times it's current mass. Since there isn't that much mass (Sun excluded) in the entire solar system, we can fully remove "implausible" from your sentence.

If we magically gave Jupiter that kind of mass, and it suddenly became a star, it is not the light/radiation that I would be concerned about, it would be the gravitational perturbances on all the inner planets. Mars' orbit would become even more elliptical than it already is, and might even get sent off into interstellar space or fall into the new 80 Jupiter-Massed Sun. A similar fate could be in store for the Earth as well, as these "multiple body" gravitational physics problems make things a little complicated. What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?
Jupiter would have to be much more massive to fuse hydrogen and become a star.

If Jupiter were large enough for this to happen, our solar system would be a binary star system. These are fairly common, many stars are orbited by other stars.

Depending on the brightness of Jupiter, Earth would be warmed slightly. Jupiter would probably be a brown or red dwarf, as these stars have a low mass. They are not very bright compared to the Sun.

At times when Jupiter and Earth were on the same side of the Sun, Jupiter would be very bright during nighttime, in fact, people living on Earth might refer to a brighter daytime, when Earth is lit by the Sun, and a lesser daytime, when Earth is lit by Jupiter. The brightest days of all would be when both Jupiter and the Sun are visible in the sky at the same time, but not when they are close together in the sky. However, if Jupiter were a dim star, it might not make much difference.

Jupiter's influence on the Earth would be least when Jupiter appears next to the Sun, as viewed from Earth. In this situation, Jupiter is behind the Sun, very far from Earth, so not much light would get from Jupiter to Earth.

As a star with the minimum required weight for fusion, Jupiter would have a long life span, outliving the Sun.

Jupiter as it is now has many moons. One of these moons, Europa, has more water than Earth, but it is covered by a thick layer of ice. If Jupiter could fuse hydrogen, it might heat up Europa, melting the ice and creating a habitable world. However, Europa might not be large enough to hold on to an atmosphere. In that case, the water would boil off and escape into space until Europa was dry. What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?I don't believe that Jupiter has enough mass to create the gravity needed for star formation. It does have a tremendous amount of Hydrogen, but if it somehow ignited it would likely just explode, which might cause us some problems (the gravitational disturbance could send large asteroids or other objects hurling our way). Plus, just having Jupiter around is like a cosmic vacuum cleaner in that it tends to suck up errant objects which might otherwise target us.

For the sake of discussion lets assume Jupiter could somehow become a star. If a gigantic cosmic truck of the right ingredients could be delivered by divine intervention to the planet and it did manage to collapse upon the weight of its own gravity, ignite and become a star...

It would have much, much more gravitational influence. Our system would become binary. It would move towards the sun and the Sun would move towards it. Though it could possibly collide with the Sun, this probably would not happen. Because the Sun and Jupiter are already in a tangential orbit, they would likely miss on the first pass, Jupiter's orbit would become elongated, and over millions (billions if they survive) of years their orbits would become tighter and more circular.

This process would not bode well for the other planets. All orbits would be thrown off. Planets would either be consumed by one of the two stars or they would be thrown out of the system and head off in to deep space like Voyager. Planets which are cast out could become part of a distant orbiting system like the Oort Cloud.

Either way it goes, we would not be here to have debates of this kind. Life on Earth could not exist in anything but bacterial form, and possibly not even that for very long. Unless we have something like the Battlestar Gallactica to slip away in, we're doomed. What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?
Not much more than a nice spectacle on some nights. Jupiter is always more than 4 times as far away from us as the Sun, so even if it would be as big as the Sun, it would be 16 times less bright. So we would receive in that case about 5% more radiation, when it's closest to the Earth.

    That's bearable.

The situation in the Alpha Centauri system is quite similar, with Alpha Centauri B in an elliptical orbit ranging from the Saturn orbit to the Pluto orbit. What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited? You know what, I did not know that, and I looked it up and saw the composition of Jupiter and that is really interesting. I have never studied Jupiter but instead Saturn, Uranus, and Titan (Saturn's Earth like moon). It's really interesting to know that if you were to "land" on Jupiter, you would go right through it eventually being crushed by pressure and then burned by the core.

But to answer your question, I do think if it were to catch on fire, it would have some very small effect on our temperature (as if we need that), but I don't think we would be fried. It is to small and to far away to let off any massive amount of heat like the sun. The sun is 1,390,000 Km as Jupiter is only 141,700 Km wide.

Furthermore, we are closer to the Sun at 149.63*10^6 Km than we are to Jupiter at 778.6*10^6 Km. So, when factoring the size of Jupiter and the distance we are away, we might not be effected at all.
    Not "implausible", "impossible".

Perhaps several decades ago someone speculated on how close Jupiter came to lighting up. Now, however, we understand quite a bit more. The planet Jupiter has has about 1/13 of the mass required to become a brown dwarf, and about 1/80 of the mass required to become a red dwarf, which is the smallest true 'star'.

Having said all of that, Imagine a second, smaller dimmer 'sun' in the sky. If it were a brown dwarf I doubt it would be visible in the daylight, but it would be even brighter than it is now at night.

The upper limit of luminosity would be somewhere around 0.01% that of the sun. If my calculations are right (and there's always a good chance they're not) that puts a brown dwarf below the -4 magnitude brightness of the daytime sky. What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?
There would be two suns in the sky. but even J is much smaller than the sun and would use its fuel quickly. J is farther from us than the sun and would seem much smaller and dimmer.

You could not get " a Jupiter-burn" from letting it shine on you.

there are binary star systems where there are two stars close together
Read Arthur C Clarke's " 2010: Odyssey Two" - Jupiter does turn into a star, " 2061: Odyssey Three and 3001: The Final Odyssey."I also highly recommend his "Childhood's End" which was written before "2001"What would happen if Jupiter turned into a star or ignited?
people would be able to get tanned fast. it's a win-win situation. too bad for Jupiter's inhabitants. They come to live on earth though. kthxbye.

my personal opinion, I think Jupiter was supposed to be a twin for our moon, a brown drawf, since most do galaxies have 2 moons, even though it is quite small in moon statistics.

our galaxy is the odd ball! hah ;]

But I do not think that's it is possible for Jupiter to just ignite out of no where %26amp;%26amp; transform into a moon. I don't think Jupiter even has enough radiation for it.

What Star Wars book should I start with?

Im trying to get into the star wars books. In your opinion what series or book should I start with? What Star Wars book should I start with? The Truce at Bakura would be a good starting point, because it begins the day after Return of the Jedi. From there, I would go to the Courtship of Princess Leia, then maybe to Tatooine Ghost (If you like Han and Leia) and then to the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. I, personally, did not enjoy the Thrawn Trilogy because it was very complicated. In that particular trilogy, they introduce a lot of new characters and start to move towards really deep-space Extended Universe stuff. However, the Thrawn Trilogy is a vital gateway towards a lot of the Extended Universe books about Han and Leia's children.

If you are looking for a simple, fun read, I would head in the opposite direction, and read the Han Solo Trilogy by A.C. Crispin. The Han Solo trilogy consists of The Paradise Snare, The Hutt Gambit, and Rebel Dawn. It tells the story of Han's life from the time he was 17, right up until Episode 4. It explains things like how Han and Lando came to be friends, how Han won the Millenium Falcon, and how Chewbacca came to owe Han a life debt. It deals with some of Han's early girlfriends, and kind of describes his bachelor life. I would reccommend it because of how closely it matches up with the star wars trilogy.

I posted the wikipedia link for every Star Wars book ever written- I would reccommend finding some of thse titles and reading the synopsis Wikipedia provides. In the back of some of the older Star Wars books, like the Courtship of Princess Leia, there is a list of Star Wars books as well. The list is older and outdated, but it's a little easier than wading your way through the wikipedia list.

How old is the star, VY Canis Majoris, and when is it expected to implode?

I know, or I've heard that a Black Hole is no bigger or smaller than it's prior star-form. Correct me if I'm wrong on that but, If a star that is 1000s of times bigger than our massive sun, implodes and causes a black hole of the same magnitude, How strong or how far would its gravitational pull reach? What could we expect to get "sucked" in and never see in the night sky again? I'm just curious and thought I'd ask. Thank you.How old is the star, VY Canis Majoris, and when is it expected to implode?VY Canis Majoris is a long, long way off, and can't do anything to affect the Sun, even if it does become a black hole. (The black hole will be less massive than VY Canis Majoris is now, and so will have even less of a gravitational effect than the star.)

It's not that old---perhaps 10 million years old. But because it's so massive, it may go supernova at any time.

How do we know how far away a star is?

If scientists say a star is 10 light years away, how do they know that its not 5 or 20 instead? It's not like you can use a tape measure? How do we know how far away a star is?There are generally three ways of estimating stellar distances. 1) Have you noticed when driving down the road that trees and houses near the road appear to move in the opposite direction faster than those further away? If a house is a mile from the road you might be going 70 mph and the house seems almost to be standing still. This is called parallax. For the nearer stars scientists photograph two stars which appear close together in the sky during winter, say, then take another photograph of the same stars during summer after the earth has moved over 180 million miles. They then compare the two photographs to see how much the stars appear to have moved. 2) Light varies in brightness according to the inverse square law. If you move a light source twice as far away it will appear only 1/4 as bright. Three times as far away only 1/9 as bright. Some stars are what are called variable stars. Their light varies in brightness over time. Scientists have discovered that for some of these variable stars the rate at which they vary in brightness depends upon how bright they really are, not how bright they appear to us. So by comparing how bright they appear to us versus how bright they really are and by doing a little calculation using the inverse square law scientists can get a pretty good idea of how far away they really are. 3) For stars really far away, scientists use the theory that the universe is expanding and therefore everything in it is moving away from everything else. The farther away an object is the faster it is moving. Think of blowing up a polka dot balloon. As you blow it up the dots move away from each other at an increasing rate. All forms of energy which move in waves are subject to the Doppler effect. Have you noticed how a train horn sounds higher in pitch when it is coming toward you than when it is moving away? Same with race car engines. This is the Doppler effect. It also occurs with light. Light from objects moving away from us is shifted towards the red end of the spectrum. The faster the star is moving away the more red shift. If we know what color light the star is actually producing we can get a good idea of how far away the star actually is.How do we know how far away a star is?
They know how bright a star should be by the spectrum of the light. They tell the distance by the difference in how bright it is and how bright it appears. For example, our sun, the further away someone observes it the dimmer it would appear. They could tell the distance by how bright it appears as to how bright it should be.How do we know how far away a star is?There are shifts in the spectrum of light we receive from a star which vary by distance. Astronomers have developed very complex equations to translate the specific observed spectrum shifts into a close estimate of distance. How do we know how far away a star is?
you can research this using the key words 'cepheid variable' and 'henrietta leavitt'. henrietta leavitt was this female scientist who discovered how to measure distances between the earth and stars and other planets by using cepheid variables. cepheid variables are stars whose lumonisities change periodically. i'm not sure how but she worked out a way to measure the distance between the earth and the host clusters of cephied variables and then extended her research to distances between the earth and planets and other constellations. How do we know how far away a star is?they don't use redshift and blueshift with stars that difference is too small, they only use that with galaxies.

with nearby stars they can use parallax. like when you close one eye then close the other and open the one that you first closed (see the camera one, camera two scene in wayne's world). they take a picture of the stars at one side of earth's orbit, and then again at the other side of the orbit. (the orbit around the sun not the orbit around the earth) then they can calculate how far away the star is with trigonometry.

there was a satellite, its name escapes me right now but it measured the parallax to hundreds o stars with a lot of accuracy while it was in space.

other stars they can figure out what type of star it is and then find its apparent brightness (magnitude) then calculate how far away it is based on that.
Tie a long piece of string to a stone and throw it.How do we know how far away a star is?
For nearby stars, within a hundred or even a few hundred light years they measure the parallax. The parallax is the slight shift in position of a nearby star as seen against the background of more distant stars that is caused by the Earth's orbital motion around the Sun. But the angle is EXTREMELY small even for nearby stars, and gets smaller and smaller for more distant stars. For more distant stars there are a number of indirect ways to measure the distance. Most of them have to do with figuring out how much light the star actually produces and then calculating its distance from how dim it looks to us.
    Its all in the colors.

If the color of the star is slightly red, that means it is redshifted, and is farther away because redshifted objects give off less energy.

If the color of the star is slightly blue, that means it is blueshifted, and is closer because blueshifted objects give off more energy.

So if the star is redder, it is farther away, (they have a scale to see how far away it is depending on its color) and if its blue-er, then it is closer. How do we know how far away a star is?
the measure how long light takes to travel from that star. thats why is is called "light" years
    Trigonometry.
Take a yardstick out to your patio at night, stand it on a table or something, and point the other end on the star, line it up and count the inches.

I've found that the stars closest to the horizon are closer than the ones in the middle of the sky.
    they dont they just gess
    It's not easy!
    parallax and the dopler effect
If I remember correctly , they measure stars by distance from one another.
Up to about 150 light years astronomers use parallax. Here is how they do it.

They measure carefully the position of a star against the position of other stars nearby (nearby, in the sky that is). Six months later they do the same. If the position of the target star changes with respect to the others, and they can determine which of the others have not changed with respect to each other and are much further away, then the angular change is put into the formula tangent (a/2) = distance/r, where a is the angle they measure and r is the radius of the orbit of the earth.

(They measure the angle using the diameter of the orbit of the earth, so for the equation they must take one-half the diameter).

For stars farther than that they must estimate the luminosity of the star, using its stellar type (from the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram) from it's spectrum, and estimate distance using it's apparent brightness using the inverse-square rule. If there is a lot of dust between us and the target star then this method is subject to large error.

Galactic and intergalactic distances are estimated in two ways. The first is by use of the redshift, in which distance is (said to be) proportional to velocity of recession. The second is to watch for supernovae or novae, which have a tendency to exhibit approximately the same luminosity for each type, again invoking the inverse square rule for luminosity decrease in a given distance. Obviously the parallax method is more accurate for nearby objects, but the others are so far away that small errors do not mean much.
redshift, if it was coming towards us it'd be blue because all the chems are pushed in one direction, if it's moving away from us you see red because the chems tand to make a red color as they spread out. redshift was discovered by Edwin Hubble and his assistant (I forgot her first name) Leavitt.
You know that the fence by the side of the road moves past faster than the tee on the horizon as you drive past? This effect is called parralax. It causes nearby stars to move compared to the most distant ones as the earth orbits the sun. They wiggle back and forth.

This wiggle over the year can measure stars up to 300Light years (LY) away.

There are so many stas within 300LY away that we can fit all stars into certain categories according to their colour.

By checking the colour of any star, regardless of it's distance, we can put it into one of those categories. From this, we can work out how far it is.

Finding the distance of stars from their wiggle in the sky (trigonometric parallax) is less accurate the further away it is. 300LY is when it become so inaccurate that the colour method (specroscopic parallax) is considered more accurate.

Trig Parallax is 10-50% inaccurate. Spectroscopic parralax is %26gt;50% innacurate.

Hey ho. What can you do? Like you said, it's not like you can get a tape measure.
They use trigonometry to determine these distances. There are properties of light and of triangles which you can use to determine really big distances. For a smaller example, you can find the height of a building by measuring your distance from it and the angle you need to tilt your head to see it. A similar method can be used, except with two people very far apart. If you know the distance between the people and the angle each person needs to look up at, you can find the height of the star with a little math. Of course, your measurements have to be extremely accurate.

Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?

If Roy Halladay, C.C. Sabathia Cliff Lee plus others, Would you take them as your first pick? First base and outfielders are loaded second base is stacked with good players too. Shortstop and third base are a little thin when all the star power is gone. Getting one star pitcher cant hurt but... Starting pitching this year is pretty stacked as well.Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?I can't say I would. Taking an SP in the first round in Fantasy Baseball is like taking a QB in the first round of a Fantasy Football draft. There are always 1-2 qualified to make the cut, but they are very rare.

This year the top pitcher in Fantasy Baseball is Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies. His ADP is always at the back end of the first round, anywhere from 8-14. He's usually taken after the aforementioned SS and 3B top-tiers are gone and the prime 1Bs like Pujols, Miggy and Votto are gone.

Halladay, and the top SPs in general, are worth a look at the back end of the first round, but the depth at SP lends itself to the top-tier pitchers being taken in the early to mid second round of drafts.

Hope this helped!Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?
I wouldn't take a pitcher first overall, but if i was 9 or 10, i would consider it. You probably want a guy who is going to put up great batting numbers for you. In fantasy baseball, pitching is a hard catagory to dominate, because of wins and ERA. So if you get the best hitting team, you will have a good year if your pitching isn't horrible.Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?I would never take a pitcher in the first round. I almost always take an infielder. depending on where in the round I'm picking I usually won't take a pitcher until at least the 3rd sometimes the 4th round. there is plenty of pitching talent out there in the later rounds.Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?
I'll take a top pitcher if I slip past pick 7 or 8, but there's usually too much bat-value at risk before the late 1st round...unless your league has a "possession" category - then grab Lincecum as quick as possible...Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball? No. Hitters, hitters. hitters. Best hitter available, regardless of position.Would you take a star pitcher in first round in fantasy baseball?
no i would draft the best 1b or ss available then 3b then star pitcher

How do you calculate the radius of a star?

How do you calculate the radius of a star?

I have to list the steps required and explain how those steps are determined. How do you calculate the radius of a star?Calculating the Radius of a Star

Calculating a star's radius is a somewhat lengthy process. You have to put together many tools that you have developed in various SkyServer projects. Even the largest star is so far away that it appears as a single point from the surface of the Earth - its radius cannot be measured directly. Fortunately, understanding a star's luminosity provides you with the tools necessary to calculate its radius from easily measured quantities.

A star's luminosity, or total power given off, is related to two of its properties: its temperature and surface area. If two stars have the same surface area, the hotter one will give off more radiation. If two stars have the same temperature, the one with more surface area will give off more radiation. The surface area of a star is directly related to the square of its radius (assuming a spherical star).

The luminosity of a star is given by the equation

    L = 4pR2s T4,

Where L is the luminosity in Watts, R is the radius in meters, s is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant

    (5.67 x 10-8 Wm-2K-4), and T is the star's surface temperature in Kelvin.

The temperature of a star is related to its b-v magnitude.

for b-v value go to link

The calculation is actually somewhat easier if we try to find the ratio of another star's radius to that of our Sun. Let Ls be the luminosity of the Sun, L be the luminosity of another star, Ts be the temperature of the Sun, T be the temperature of the other star, Rs be the radius of the Sun, and R be the radius of the other star.

We can then write the ratio of their luminosities as

    L/Ls = (4pR2sT4)/(4pRs2sTs4) = (R/Rs)2(T/Ts)4

Solving for the ratio R/Rs yields

    R/Rs = (Ts/T)2(L/Ls)1/2

The temperatures can be found approximately from the table above by looking at the B-V values. To find the ratio L/Ls, we can use the absolute magnitudes of the stars. The magnitude scale is a logarithmic scale. For every decrease in brightness of 1 magnitude, the star is 2.51 times as bright. Therefore, L/Ls can be found from the equation

    L/Ls = 2.51Dm,

    where Dm = ms - m

Let's look at the star Sirius. It has visual magnitude of -1.44, B-V of .009, and a parallax of 379.21 milli arc seconds. Finding its distance from its parallax yields

    d = 1/p = 1/.37921 = 2.63 parsecs.

    Its absolute magnitude is

    M = m - 5 log d + 5 = -1.44 - 5 log (2.63) + 5 = 1.46

We know the temperature of the Sun is 5800K. From the chart, the temperature of Sirius is about 9500K. Our Sun has an absolute magnitude of 4.83. The difference in magnitude is 3.37. Putting everything together yields

    R/Rs = (5800/9500)2(2.5123.37)1/2 = 1.76

Sirius has a radius approximately 1.76 times that of our Sun!How do you calculate the radius of a star? Both the previous answers are pretty much spot on - although awais seems to make it more complicated than necessary.

Basically you need to know a star's luminosity, temperature and distance.

If the star isn;t too far away, you can use a parallax observation to get distance.

Then you measure how much light we received from the star every second, and together with the distance, this gives luminosity - which is how much total energy is emitted every second.

Taking a spectrum allows you to determine the temperature of the star.

Then, because stars are essentially blackbodies - you apply the Stefan_Boltzmann law: L = 4 pi R^2 sigma T^4

since pi and sigma are constants and you have measured L and T, you can calculate R.

If the star is more than a few hundred light years away, parallax is no use - and measuring distance is harder.

However, then we can use the width of the absorption lines in the spectrum to estimate size using MKK luminosity classes.

    http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/cosmos/M/Mo鈥?/a>

In this case you just need the spectrum and a HR diagram to get the size - but the estimate of radius is not so precise. How do you calculate the radius of a star? This is a rather difficult process. Most stars are too far away to directly observe the radius. Only a few nearby giant stars have had their radii directly measured.

Most of the time you estimate the radius of a star based on its luminosity and temperature. Using the black-body radiation formula you can figure out the radius.

    L = pi * 4 * R^2 * sigma * T^4

    where sigma = 5.67e-8 (Stefan-Boltzmnan constant)

    L is luminosity

    R is radius

    T is temperature

When will it next be near Spica? When will a full moon be near Favorite Star Spica, according to the given data?It takes one sidereal period for a full moon to be next to Favorite Star Spica. When will a full moon be near Favorite Star Spica, according to the given data?If there is a full moon on March 1st, the next full moon will be on March 29th or 30th. This next full moon will not be near Spica because the Earth has revolved nearly 30掳 around the Sun in that time and since the full moon has to be opposite the Sun, the next full moon will be about 30掳 to the east.

The next full moon near Spica will be approximately a year later

  • What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?

I am due to get married in May and we would like to name the tables after star constellations that are visible in May. We are based near St Albans in Hertfordshire.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks! What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?http://www.stellarium.org/

This is a great free star chart program that you can download. Tell it where you are and it will tell you what you see. You can reset the day and time to show you exactly what a cloud free night will look like on your wedding day. What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?Here is a map of the sky over St Albans at 9pm on the 15th of may.

    The visible constellations are labeled.

The constellations in the upper (north side) of the chart are visible all year round. The ones at the bottom (southern sky) vary as the year progresses.

If you want your guests to be able to find their 'table' in the sky, you may find it easier to name the tables after bright stars instead, since they will be easier to spot in the bright summer (or light polluted) night sky.

(Assuming the British weather cooperates of course!)

Smart phones such as iphone or androids have an excellent sky map applications that you can also use to find stuff in the sky.

What star is nearest the center of the milky way?

Im pretty sure its not the sun since we are near the edge of the galaxy, anybody know what star is nearest the center? What star is nearest the center of the milky way?Well, ..., there are stars near the center of the Milky Way. However, you wouldn't be able to see them as they are obscured by galactic dust. S0-2 (See the animation below) on average is the star closest to the Galactic center.

Now, there's a bit of a misnomer with Sagittarius-A* (Sgr-A*). Even though it is pronounced 'Sagittarius A-Star'. It is not a star, rather, Sgr-A* is an intense radio source which is the presumed black hole at the center of our galaxy (the Milky Way). You can, however, get an idea of where it is at in the night sky by looking at the constellation Sagittarius. The constellation looks like a giant teapot. Locate it and then look at the spout. The star at the point of the spout (gamma Sagittarii) is pointing (roughly) to the center of our Galaxy and to Sgr-A* (select the last link and run your mouse over it to reveal the galactic center in the night sky. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
The "monster" at the center of the galaxy is a supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*. We know it is there, because we observe in UV astronomy, several stars boomerang around it in a matter of days.

The stars near it are on very eccentric orbits, or perhaps not even stable orbits but rather escape trajectories. The star that qualifies as nearest to the supermassive black hole varies from day to day. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?The star S0-2 has an orbital period of only 15.56 years around the center of the milky way.
But the star S0-16 comes within 90 astronomical units from the black hole.

BTW, There is also an energetic pulsar candidate, G359.95-0.04, 1 light year north of Sgr A*.

"This feature, G359.95-0.04, lies 1-lyr north of Sgr A* (in projection), is comet like in shape, and has a power-law spectrum that steepens with increasing distance from the putative pulsar."

Actually, it varies - almost day to day...

None of the stars near the center of the galaxy have names - we can't see them because of the intense glare of the millions of stars around them, and the very *nearest* stars whip around the super massive black hole at the galaxy's center in a matter days. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?Well. The thing in the exact center is called Sgr A* (Sagittarius A Star) But it actually isn't a star. It's a Super-Massive Black Hole. About 4 and a half million suns worth of mass.

The closes NAMED star to Sgr A* is called "S2" as far as I know. It is NOT the closest star to Sgr A* though. It's about 6 light years off the event horizon. About as close as a Star could be and remain in a stable orbit.

S2 is one of the stars they worked the Kepler magic on to get the mass of Sgr A*
Gexagon is right. There is such star but have not matter.Very unavailable. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
Can't really tell because there is dust clouds obscuring it, but they suspect the density of stars is quite thick. Distance between stars could be much less then a light year.
We're not sure, but many scientists believe that there's a supermassive black hole at the center of the milky way. Not a star. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
Your question doesnt deserve an answer.
