Thanks. How much does it cost to replace existing home air conditioner with an energy star unit?Go to hvacopcost.com this will give you an idea how much you will save by going to the higher efficiency unit. Then factor in the bottom line tax credit of $1500 (which can be taken over 3 years) and you will find that it makes a lot of sense to get the higher efficiency model. Plus, if you sell you home it is a good feature to sell on. I do not foresee energy prices dropping and so it makes so much sense to get higher efficiency units.

They will be the ones to know the specs you need to get the tax credit...Try not to delay---funding for this program likely wont last long. How much does it cost to replace existing home air conditioner with an energy star unit?u looking @ 4000 to 6500How much does it cost to replace existing home air conditioner with an energy star unit?
It will be more!
Unless you have a furnace or air handler with a "variable speed" ECM blower, the furnace/air handler will also need replaced to reach the 15 SEER level.
Look at $8,000 or more depending on the application.
Anyone telling you they can get you 15 SEER without the ECM blower is lost in space.
