What novel wold be a good starting point to get into the Star Wars Expanded Universe?

I am interested in reading some of the Star Wars Expanded Universe but am not really sure about where to get started. There seems to be a huge amount of material out there. I guess I would be interested in the books after the original trilogy (IV - VI). Any one have any suggestions out there.

But I would start with the trilogy written by Timothy Zahn. It takes place about five years after the last movie. Han and Leia are married, Luke is a Jedi Master, the remnants of the Empire are still a threat and there are two new great bad guys. If I tell you more it will ruin the story. But, honestly, if you don't like these books, you probably won't like any of the others.
