If the star Betelgeuse star is 3500 K at what wavelength does it emit the most radiation?
If the star Betelgeuse has a surface temperature of approximately 3400 - 3500 K at what wavelength does it emit the most radiation? If the star Betelgeuse star is 3500 K at what wavelength does it emit the most radiation?Red.... 3500K is about the temperature of a 100w light-bulb filament. Close up, it would look as white as a light bulb. But far away, it is reddish orange. When I was a fireman, I knew the 100w comparison with Betelgeuse, but I could not figure why the light bulb and the star did not look the same. One day I made a fire in a high-rise building. I was on top of an elevator car and looked up 10 stories (about 130 feet) and saw a light-bulb at the top of the elevator shaft. Sure enough, it was as orangy-red as my old friend Beetle-juice.If the star Betelgeuse star is 3500 K at what wavelength does it emit the most radiation?Red..,particularly infrared. In the visible wavelength Betelgeuse radiates at 16,000x as bright as the sun. However, if we are to sum up the total output of energy being radiated away by Betelgeuse it would climb up to 135,000! You will see that the numbers don't match. That's because the invisible part of the spectrum is being radiated away in the infrared band.
