I would like to start reading the Star Wars books, Where do I start?

There are so many Star wars books and I really don't know where to start. I would like to read the for real versions not the kiddy versions. Also there are so many different authors to the books, can you explain that to me? Can any one help?I would like to start reading the Star Wars books, Where do I start?I answered the other question like this that you asked so I'll try not to repeat myself. The reason for multiple authors ... it's in my other answer and sorry to say it but "Just Wondering" should have kept on wondering because he admits that he can't help with suggestions for the books and his answer about the multiple authors is dead wrong ... at least as far as Star Wars is concerned.

As I said in my other answer the link that "angelik" gives in her answer, which basically goes to the same place whether you are using wikipedia or wookiepedia ... a time line full of outdated and out of print stuff that will never be reprinted ... it's just a very confusing way to look at it.

No offense to the answers given by "Mack Antilles" and "slyn183" but if you start in those areas you won't have the background info needed to understand what is going on and the origins of pretty much every new character that play important parts in the rest of the books. I can't believe that The Thrawn Trilogy isn't on the list given by "slyn183" as it is the best place to start reading the books. They are brilliantly written and introduce many of the new characters ... one of which will someday become Luke's wife.

After that I would read the X-Wing series ... after that you pretty much know all the new characters and will be able to read any of the books and not get lost.

As I said before ... feel free to message me if you have other questions.

May The Force Be With You ...

I used to practically DEVOUR the Star Wars books as soon as I found them.

If you want to start reading, I would recommend:

1. Courtship of Princes Leia by Dave Wolverton

2. Jedi Academy Trilogy by Kevin J. Anderson

- Jedi Search

- Dark Apprentice

- Champions of the Force

3. The Corellian Trilogy by Roger MacBride Allen

- Ambush at Corellia

- Assault at Selonia

- Showdown at Centerpoint

4. The X-Wing Squadron Series by Aaron Allston / Michael Stackpole (P.S. this is my favourite. I've read the whole series multiple times and never got sick of it!)

- Rogue Squadron

- Wedge's Gamble

- The Krytos Trap

- The Bacta War

- Wraith Squadron

- Iron Fist

- Solo Command

- Isard's Revenge

- Starfighters of Adumar

5. I, Jedi by Michael Stackpole

I think that should be more than enough to get you started... but you don't neccessarily have to follow these specific sequence or those specific books, but that was pretty much how I started reading the Star Wars books too!I would like to start reading the Star Wars books, Where do I start?I can explain why there are so many different authors. When someone proposes a book series to a publisher, they are usually assumed to be the author of the books. But if the series becomes real popular,, like star wars, goosebumps, babysitters club, nancy drew - the author can't write them as quickly as the publisher can sell them, so they pay the author off and start hiring other people to write the books, that way they can put out one a month (or whatever their schedule is)

I can't help with the rest of your question.I would like to start reading the Star Wars books, Where do I start?
I started with the novelizations of the movies then tried to read them in some-what chronological order. There are the clone wars books, but I personally ignore anything and everything from that era. If you go in order it will be a lot easier. My favorite series was the Bounty Hunter wars, lots of boba fett haha. Have fun no matter where you start, they're all great books!I would like to start reading the Star Wars books, Where do I start? This Wikipedia page has a list/details of all the Star Wars books :)
