How do I create a static night sky image with the occasional twinkling star?

I operate the projector for school plays, and we usually have moving images or static landscape shots for the scenery (it cuts down on painting!). For the nativity, they would like a night scene, and I would like to have this,m but make sure that the occasional star twinkles. Any suggestions how I might do this?
