What is that star or planet that is very bright in the western sky?

I was driving from chicago and going straight west, when I noticed a star or planet in the sky that is so bright. I noticed it again 2 days later and it was the only thing in the sky i could see. Anyone know what this is?What is that star or planet that is very bright in the western sky?Venus.

Only the Moon is a brighter nighttime object. Venus stays up about 4 hr after sunset in Chicago.What is that star or planet that is very bright in the western sky?The planet Venus. It rises and set in the Western sky every night for the past couple of month. Cool isn't it?!!!
