What are the different ways a star dies?

I know they can supernova, become white dwarfs, red giants?

Also when a star goes supernova can it turn into a neutron star or it can turn into a black hole?What are the different ways a star dies?Stars can also go through a process of "shrugging off" layers of their atmosphere.
