What would happen if a gravitational radiation or wave from some other star hits the earth?

Gravitational radiations are the waves made in space when a star explodes, or rather accelerates a disturbance in space-time. These waves cannot be slowed down or stopped and are known to travel at the speed of light.

My main question here is, will the Earth's orbit be affected if it's hit by one?What would happen if a gravitational radiation or wave from some other star hits the earth?It is very unlikely that one would hit the earth. Binary Galaxy formations, supernovas and black holes could produce significant gravitational radiation. Our own solar system produces a relatively small amount of gravitational radiation, and is unlikely to threaten the earth.



The sheer distance that most of these star and galaxies would probably mean millions or even billions of years before an event like this would happen.What would happen if a gravitational radiation or wave from some other star hits the earth?No. The Earth is too far away from even the closest star for any effect to be felt or for it to have an effect on our orbit. A sensitive interferometric array like LIGOS (sp?) could possibly detect it though.



Now, in a densely populated part of the galaxy, such as near the core or in a globular cluster the stars are close enough to each other that they might have an effect.What would happen if a gravitational radiation or wave from some other star hits the earth?Move your hand in front of your face. The gravitational waves created are stronger than the effects from a stellar explosion (besides the sun). These waves are nothing to fear, we have to put a triangle of satellites to detect them.What would happen if a gravitational radiation or wave from some other star hits the earth?
