  • What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?

I am due to get married in May and we would like to name the tables after star constellations that are visible in May. We are based near St Albans in Hertfordshire.

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks! What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?http://www.stellarium.org/

This is a great free star chart program that you can download. Tell it where you are and it will tell you what you see. You can reset the day and time to show you exactly what a cloud free night will look like on your wedding day. What star constellations are visible in Hertfordshire, England in May?Here is a map of the sky over St Albans at 9pm on the 15th of may.

    The visible constellations are labeled.

The constellations in the upper (north side) of the chart are visible all year round. The ones at the bottom (southern sky) vary as the year progresses.

If you want your guests to be able to find their 'table' in the sky, you may find it easier to name the tables after bright stars instead, since they will be easier to spot in the bright summer (or light polluted) night sky.

(Assuming the British weather cooperates of course!)

Smart phones such as iphone or androids have an excellent sky map applications that you can also use to find stuff in the sky.

What star is nearest the center of the milky way?

Im pretty sure its not the sun since we are near the edge of the galaxy, anybody know what star is nearest the center? What star is nearest the center of the milky way?Well, ..., there are stars near the center of the Milky Way. However, you wouldn't be able to see them as they are obscured by galactic dust. S0-2 (See the animation below) on average is the star closest to the Galactic center.

Now, there's a bit of a misnomer with Sagittarius-A* (Sgr-A*). Even though it is pronounced 'Sagittarius A-Star'. It is not a star, rather, Sgr-A* is an intense radio source which is the presumed black hole at the center of our galaxy (the Milky Way). You can, however, get an idea of where it is at in the night sky by looking at the constellation Sagittarius. The constellation looks like a giant teapot. Locate it and then look at the spout. The star at the point of the spout (gamma Sagittarii) is pointing (roughly) to the center of our Galaxy and to Sgr-A* (select the last link and run your mouse over it to reveal the galactic center in the night sky. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
The "monster" at the center of the galaxy is a supermassive black hole, Sagittarius A*. We know it is there, because we observe in UV astronomy, several stars boomerang around it in a matter of days.

The stars near it are on very eccentric orbits, or perhaps not even stable orbits but rather escape trajectories. The star that qualifies as nearest to the supermassive black hole varies from day to day. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?The star S0-2 has an orbital period of only 15.56 years around the center of the milky way.
But the star S0-16 comes within 90 astronomical units from the black hole.

BTW, There is also an energetic pulsar candidate, G359.95-0.04, 1 light year north of Sgr A*.

"This feature, G359.95-0.04, lies 1-lyr north of Sgr A* (in projection), is comet like in shape, and has a power-law spectrum that steepens with increasing distance from the putative pulsar."

Actually, it varies - almost day to day...

None of the stars near the center of the galaxy have names - we can't see them because of the intense glare of the millions of stars around them, and the very *nearest* stars whip around the super massive black hole at the galaxy's center in a matter days. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?Well. The thing in the exact center is called Sgr A* (Sagittarius A Star) But it actually isn't a star. It's a Super-Massive Black Hole. About 4 and a half million suns worth of mass.

The closes NAMED star to Sgr A* is called "S2" as far as I know. It is NOT the closest star to Sgr A* though. It's about 6 light years off the event horizon. About as close as a Star could be and remain in a stable orbit.

S2 is one of the stars they worked the Kepler magic on to get the mass of Sgr A*
Gexagon is right. There is such star but have not matter.Very unavailable. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
Can't really tell because there is dust clouds obscuring it, but they suspect the density of stars is quite thick. Distance between stars could be much less then a light year.
We're not sure, but many scientists believe that there's a supermassive black hole at the center of the milky way. Not a star. What star is nearest the center of the milky way?
Your question doesnt deserve an answer.

What were the foods in the replicator at Star Trek the Experience?

Ok, this question is for all the Trekkies of the Web. For those who have experienced the now-closed Star Trek Experience in the Las Vegas Hilton, you might have noticed a cardassian replicator at the Promenade. What I'm wondering is what were the names of the food that the replicator produced at the touch of the button, because all i recognized was the Glop on a Stick and the revolting Gagh.

Would be very appreciate if someone knew. Thanks alot, and Live long and Prosper! What were the foods in the replicator at Star Trek the Experience?Wow, that is a really hard one as I don't remember the replicator.

I was there for the ST convention in 08 right before STTE closed. I can tell you that the drinks at Quarks were very, very strong. Can't remember which one(s) I had but it was green and was steaming.

Now, if you are interested in the menu Quarks offered, that link is below.

Good luck. What were the foods in the replicator at Star Trek the Experience?Star Trek the Experience went out of business over a year ago due to the Hilton not renewing their lease. The Hilton wanted to build a titty bar in that space.

However, I've heard that STTE is in negotiations to open downtown in the Neonopolis complex, which would be perfect for them.

I've visited STTE but I never went in the restaurant. What were the foods in the replicator at Star Trek the Experience?I will probably guess it's mac %26amp; cheese

What does it mean if there is a star on the beginning of a note?

I have a 1957 $1 Silver Certificate that has a Star on the beginning of the serial. I know if it is at the end of the serial that means its a replacement note. I cannot locate any information that will let me know what it means if it is in the beginning. Any answer is appreciated. What does it mean if there is a star on the beginning of a note? The star after the serial number is a replacement note that was issued to take the place of a defective note that was discovered. Since it's too cost-prohibitive to re-issue the same serial number, it's easier to print up a bunch of star notes and then use them to fill the stack once the defects are pulled out. Most star notes don't command a premium unless they are uncirculated, and/or have a real interesting serial number. You might try visiting the Bill Collectors' and Numismatic Forum to see if it has some collector's value. What does it mean if there is a star on the beginning of a note?Call up a coin collector shop or a numismatic exchange. Or call your bank. You will find an expert by doing this or something else related to currency collecting. Good luck! :)What does it mean if there is a star on the beginning of a note?I have 3 1928 silver certificates and was looking for the same info. This link helped me, maybe will answer your ? as well g/l

  • How to figure out the luminosity of a star?

What is the luminosity of a star that is half as luminous as the sun?

I know the formula is L=M^3.5, but how do you plug in the numbers? How to figure out the luminosity of a star?Just get a good set of star charts, the magnitude of stars are listed on them.

There are some star charts on line that you can download for freeHow to figure out the luminosity of a star?Half as massive?

    L = (0.5)^3.5

Use the y^x button on a scientific calculator. Or use logarithms.
