What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?The first one was very likely the ISS, which is the third brightest thing in the sky now after the sun and the moon, brighter that Venus, because it has all of its solar panels now:http://www.universetoday.com/2009/03/20/鈥?/a>
The second thing was probably a flare from the solar panels of an Iridium satellite. Check heavansabove.com to find out which Iridium satellite it was. Registration is free. What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?
it probably wasn't a satellite because in order to escape the earth's gravitational intensity, a satellite would have to be traveling at an incredible speed or be extremely far away. It probably was a meteor, which probably would burn up before it reached the earth's biosphere. What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?It could be a low orbit satellite, which moves faster than most. Or, it could also be a meteor. Meteors are actually quite common, so what you saw could be what people call a 'falling star'What was the light moving across the sky faster than a satellite and brighter than any star in the sky?
Satellites can be appear to go pretty fast... or pretty slow... depending on their orbit, and it's orientation relative to you and your location.
